The Photographic Experience of Heritage is a photography contest for high school youth on the theme of cultural and natural heritage. The Quebec contest is part of the International Photographic Experience of Monuments contest that was launched in Catalonia, Spain in 1996. Each year, more than twenty countries take part in this activity, whose objective is to "foster awareness among young people about the heritage in their community by means of an artistic photography process". According to contest regulations, the interdisciplinary process leading up to the final submission must include heritage instruction and photography lessons. In 2005, Trafalgar teachers seized the opportunity to go even further and so they created an exciting cross-curricular project that incorporates: multimedia, histoire, art and French. All students in Secondary II participate. The final product submitted to the competition by each student consists of an original photograph and an accompanying text.
In our first year of participation, Traf student Chelsea Belmer was one of six winners selected from the province of Quebec and in 2006 Michelle Karpman received the same honour. This year, student Vanessa Salvatori's photo was selected as one of the top 40 finalists.

Ma photo montre le contraste entre
le moderne et l’ancien. L’ombre
