Senior High School: Cultivating Leadership and Purpose in Grades 9–11
Empowering Young Women to Lead with Confidence

At Trafalgar School for Girls, students in Grades 9 through 11 (Secondary III to V) are known as "Seniors," marking a significant phase in their educational journey. This period is characterized by increased autonomy, deeper academic exploration, and expanded leadership opportunities. Our Senior program is thoughtfully designed to support students as they refine their identities, embrace challenges, and prepare for post-secondary success.
A Cohesive and Supportive Learning Environment

Junior students follow a unified curriculum that lays a strong academic foundation. While they share most classes, subjects like French are tailored to their proficiency levels, ensuring personalized learning experiences
The curriculum encompasses:
  • Languages: English Language Arts and French, emphasizing communication skills and cultural understanding, with opportunities to explore Spanish as a third language in Sec II
  • Mathematics, Science, and Technology: Developing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Arts Education: Fostering creativity through various artistic disciplines.
  • Social Sciences: Encouraging global awareness and civic responsibility.
  • Student Support Services: Programs focusing on ethics, wellness, and life skills to support personal growth, along with various academic support services available when needed.
This comprehensive approach ensures that Juniors are well-prepared for the academic challenges ahead.
Leadership and Co-Curricular Engagement

Beyond the classroom, Senior students are encouraged to take on leadership roles within the school community. Whether directing the Senior play, captaining sports teams, or leading student organizations, these experiences are integral to developing confidence, responsibility, and collaborative skills.

Participation in clubs, community service projects, and co-curricular activities allows students to apply their learning in real-world contexts, fostering a sense of purpose and connection.
Personalized Support and Post-Secondary Preparation

Each Senior student is paired with a dedicated advisor who provides ongoing academic and personal guidance. Additionally, Trafalgar offers individualized support in exploring post-secondary pathways, assisting with applications, and preparing for the transition beyond high school.

Our graduates pursue diverse post-secondary options, including enrollment in Quebec's public and private CEGEPs, universities across Canada, the United States, and internationally. Notable institutions attended by recent alumni include McGill University, Queen's University, and the University of Oxford.
Elective Courses

Senior students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of elective courses that cater to their interests and future aspirations. These may include computer science, art history, and specialized science courses, among others.
Future Schools

At Trafalgar, we take great pride in the accomplishments of our graduates. With a strong academic foundation, leadership experience, and a clear sense of self, our students are well prepared to thrive in CEGEP and university.

Each year, Trafalgar students are accepted into some of the most competitive post-secondary institutions in Quebec, across Canada, and around the world. Below are some of the top CEGEPs and universities our graduates have recently attended:
