Jumpin' Juniors
At Trafalgar, teachers, older students, and other people at the school fondly refer to girls in Grades 7 & 8 (or Sec. I and II in Quebec) as “Juniors.”
This reflects their special place in the life of the school, and our educators’ profound understanding that the years of early adolescence are pivotal, and filled with individual potential and opportunity.
The Junior girls take the same courses as one another, only breaking into smaller groups in the case of subjects such as French, where they are grouped according to their mastery of the language. Options courses will be introduced later years, beginning in Grade 9 (Sec. III).
Junior girls participate in the full range of Trafalgar’s clubs and activities, learning from older girls--the Senior Yearbook editors, for example—how to take responsibility and become the school’s future leaders.
