Science. Technology. Engineering. Arts. Mathematics.

STEM at Trafalgar is a collaboration between the science and technology programs, arts programs, and mathematics programs.

Starting in Secondary I, students are introduced to all disciplines of science including chemistry, physics, biology and engineering. In addition to basic subject matter, STEAM also offers enrichment in coding and robotics.

There are several teaching approaches used in STEAM such as project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, and hands-on learning.

  • SEC 1 FIELD TRIP

    On Tuesday, Secondary 1 students, along with Ms. Loupelle and Ms. Offer, travelled to the Morgan Arboretum and the Macdonald Campus Horticultural Research Center to explore relationships between organisms and relationships organisms have with nature. They also looked for evidence, both positive and negative, of human impacts on the environment. Additionally, they toured the fruit and vegetable research farm and learned about sustainable agriculture while picking asparagus and helping the farmers plant onions in the fields.

    It was a wonderful day with lots of learning, getting dirty, fresh air, and mosquitos!

  • UPCOMING FIELD TRIP

    Secondary I students will be travelling to the West Island on Tuesday, May 21 for a full day field trip to explore the ecosystems within the Morgan Arboretum and to learn about and help with sustainable farming practices at the Horticultural Center of McGill University's Macdonald Campus. This field trip will allow students to explore nature and the relationships between organisms in nature as well as our relationships with nature, and it is part of both the Ethics and Religious Culture and Science and Technology classes.

  • EARTH DAY

    On Monday during lunch recess, our students and staff did a quick Earth Day clean-up, picking up not only on our own property, but on the sidewalks near the school.

  • MATH COMPETITIONS

    On Feb 28th, our advanced math students participated in an annual math competition. Secondary 1 and 2 students wrote a 30 min CNML competition, whereas the senior students wrote a 60 min competition associated with University of Waterloo (Pascal, Cayley, Fermat).
